Pet Transportation Driver

The Pet Transportation Driver will be interacting with dogs, cats, and people. They will be responsible for any area they are assigned.

Primary Duties

  1. Work the daily operation of tasks within their assigned area to ensure proper and safe care of all animals in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  2. Serve as back-up to other areas as needed
  3. Duties for Staff
    • Transporting safely and reliably, animals on a timely schedule. This includes safely operating the vehicle during day or night.
    • Safely load and unload animals at source and destinations
    • Monitor appetite, hydration, stools and vomit of animals on the transport vehicle
    • Provide food and water for animals in the transport vehicle in accordance with established policy and procedures
    • Perform cleaning on the transport vehicle in accordance with policy and procedures
    • Responsible for accurate and timely recordkeeping in compliance with the Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
    • Must be able to problem solve and work under general instruction while on the route
    • Responsible for accurate and timely recordkeeping and data entry for all animals in your transportation vehicle
    • Be an ambassador and represent PPS positively to external agencies and the public
    • Plan with manager and other coordinators for proper work coverage on a weekly basis. Priority must be giving to daily animal care and their transportation; longer term planning is required to schedule cleaning duties.
    • Contact management if extra staff is needed
    • Lead by example and assign self to all functions on a regular basis
  4. Provide input to management on procedures in area of responsibility. Recommend changes, additions or deletions to ensure proper care and effective operations.
      • Perform cross-trained duties as assigned and as described in the respective job descriptions for Bather, Receptionist, assist Pet Photographer, Retail area
  5. Open or close Company facility as needed and requested by management
  6. Administrative
      • Complete daily maintenance checklists and ensure all other work forms are completed and maintained for duties assigned.
  7. Cleaning duties of vehicle and as assigned
  8. Other duties as assigned


  • Required to be at least 25 years of age with 5+ years driving experience
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record for past 5 years, must remain insurable
  • Able to work weekends, days, evenings and holidays
  • Able to work early morning or late evening shifts (5:30am, 8:00pm)

Minimum Experience, Skills, Certification, Academic, or other Qualifications

  • 5+ years driving experience
  • High school graduate or GED preferred
  • Good oral & written communication skills
  • Customer Service skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to maintain good working relationships with the public, employees and customers
  • Experience/knowledge of animal welfare: including care, handling, health, behavior, training
  • Polite & Positive
